Yoshiaki Shibata
Yoshiaki Shibata was born in Tokyo and moved to Berlin to study in 1988. His formative teachers include Koji Toyoda, Thomas Brandis and Manfred Scherzer, with further artistic inspiration from Ida Haendel. After studying violin in Berlin, he continued his training in Dresden, completing his Konzertexamen with distinction in 1997.
His work as a soloist and chamber musician has taken him to international concert stages. He is co-founder and artistic director of the Neues Sinfonieorchester Berlin. His appearances include concerts at the Berlin Philharmonie and Konzerthaus Berlin.
Supporting young musicians is another important part of his work. He gives international masterclasses, serves on competition juries and teaches at Berlin University of the Arts. In our concerts, he also performs as violist with the Erichson Quartett Berlin.
