Karin Leo

Born in Wriezen, Karin Leo studied guitar with Richter-Rumstig at the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin. After teaching at Eberswalde Music School, she joined the teaching staff of the Berlin conservatoire in 1983. From 2003 to 2017, she was also artistic director of the Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach specialist music school.

As a soloist and chamber musician, she performs a varied repertoire that includes premieres of contemporary works. Her work is documented in CD and radio recordings.

Her musical partners include the Berliner Gitarrentrio, the Wandlitz Gitarrenduo, Marianne Boettcher and Adelheid Krause-Pichler. Alongside performing, she has spent many years supporting young guitarists in their musical development.
